Technology is a time for personalized remediation or extended instruction.
Technology has the capability of being an essential component in M.A.T.H. rotations if used appropriately and deliberately. Students who are directly taught the expectations and how to responsibly use technology during this workshop will gain the most from this workshop rotation. There is so much available through the internet and purchased programs. Students with access to computers, tablets, and BYOD environments will have the ability to access valuable personalized instruction.

How do Students Start Responsibly Using Technology? This workshop rotation must be taught explicitly to your students. Be sure to take your time and do not be afraid to stop, bring the students together, and reflect on the process. With diligence, your students will be successful and begin to take responsibility for their own learning.
the beginning of the school year, have students sign a technology agreement that holds them accountable for all of the school or district's technology use expectations. Use this generic contract if your school/district does not provide one. |
Technology ResourcesA tremendous gathering of resources for all grade levels. These resources can be found through a variety of free websites. Be sure to find resources that allow for personalized remediation and enrichment for all learners. There are several free websites that promote mathematical thinking and problem solving. Other websites find learning gaps and address them in fun and interesting ways.

Purposefully Using TechnologyTeachers must establish the expectations of a Digital Citizen. If your school has contracts for students to sign, be sure to keep a copy and refer back to the expectations when gradually implementing the program. When students use technology appropriately, it can be extremely beneficial to their math learning. Creating your own classroom contract or anchor chart for students to sign will provide guidelines for quick reference and for students to monitor themselves and each other.
